Sligo Oyster Experience Tours

The Sligo Oyster Experience now has two unique tours available, the Sligo Oyster Town Tour and the newly launched Sligo Oyster Farm Tour which is located at the Coney Island Oyster Farm in Strandhill, Co. Sligo.

The Town Tour takes place every Friday at 12pm or 4pm and starts with a short, scenic walk over Hyde Bridge from Sligo Tourist Office on O’Connell Street. Visit the famous WB Yeats statue and listen to stories of summers spent by William Butler Yeats in Sligo.

Enjoy Sligo Bay Oysters at the Oyster Bar in WB’S Coffee House. Aisling will guide you through the history and current farming methods of harvesting oysters on the Wild Atlantic Way. Find out how the oysters are harvested and learn the tricks of the trade with an oyster shucking demonstration. Indulge with a selection of naked and dressed Oysters along with a glass wine that has been chosen to compliment the oysters. Sligo Craft Beer and a full Cafe menu are also available.

The Farm Tour takes place every Wednesday at 11:00am and 2:00pm and takes 1.5 hours. On the tour you will be brought on a 15-minute Wild Atlantic Way rugged coastal walk led by tour guide and owner of Sligo Oyster Experience and WB’s Coffee House, Aisling Kelly Hunter.

You will hear of the ancient Sligo folklore and the history of Sligo’s native oysters. You will be guided through the history of oyster harvesting at the Coney Island Oyster Farm along with coastal foraging of edible sea vegetables such as sea kale and samphire.

Enjoy an oyster shucking demonstration followed by an unlimited tasting of Sligo Oysters.
