South Sligo Summer School
South Sligo Summer School is a week-long festival which celebrates Traditional music, song and dance. The festival is held in Tubbercurry and attracts musicians, singers and dancers from all over the world and from every corner in Ireland. These visitors learn from the most talented musicians in Ireland and take part in daily events and music sessions. During the week visitors take part in music classes and workshops, concerts and recitals. The programme also includes lively céilís in St. Bridget’s Hall and concerts which feature the local musicians and tutors.
Visitors can enjoy listening to the very best of traditional music over the duration of the festival while also exploring the locality in between sessions and classes. Our location provides you with an ideal base to explore County Sligo, the North West of Ireland and The Wild Atlantic Way. There is so much to do including mountain climbing, fishing, guided walks, archery, kayaking or canoeing and sea kayaking along the Wild Atlantic Way.
Classes available during the festival include set dancing, bodhrán, concertina, fiddle and much more. This year the festival takes place from July 15th to the 21st. For more information visit www.sssschool.org.
