Sunshine and Festivals – It’s shaping up to be a spectacular summer here in Sligo

Summertime means festival time and there’s no shortage of brilliant events taking place in Tubbercurry and indeed throughout Sligo over the next few weeks. Note these dates in your diary and start planning your visit to Cawley’s, we’re situated in an ideal location along the Wild Atlantic Way for exploring everything Sligo has to offer, just 20 minutes from Knock Airport and Sligo town.

South Sligo Summer School – 14th-20th July 2019

South Sligo Summer School is a week-long festival which celebrates Traditional music, song and dance. The festival is held in Tubbercurry and attracts musicians, singers and dancers from all over the world and from every corner in Ireland. These visitors learn from the most talented musicians in Ireland and take part in daily events and music sessions. During the week visitors take part in music classes and workshops, concerts and recitals. The programme also includes lively céilís in St. Bridget’s Hall and concerts which feature the local musicians and tutors.

Classes available during the festival include set dancing, bodhrán, concertina, fiddle and much more. This year the festival takes place from July 15th to the 21st. For more information visit

Tubbercurry Old Fair Day – 10-14th August 2019

Tubbercurry Old Fair Day has proven itself as one of the leading fair day festivals in the country. The festival provides lots of excitement in the town with plenty for the whole family to enjoy, while showcasing our traditional customs, crafts and musical heritage. Accolades such as placing 14th in the Flight Network (Canada’s largest travel agency) Global Festival List proves that this is an event not to be missed.

Over the five days, expect live craft demonstrations, heritage, arts and craft village in the square, Vintage displays, animals, variety of stalls, kids zones plus music from some of the nations top talents.
